Incoming - One Year as a Volunteer in Germany
Information about the Incoming Volunteer Program
Berlin Mission invites young people from our partner churches to work as volunteers in parishes or other institutions of the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg and Silesian Upper Lusatia or the Protestand Church of Anhalt.
Duration: Either for 12 month, starting in April, or 10 month, starting in September.
Possible tasks:
- supporting the open church team
- supporting in services, youth groups and special season events
- helping out with the children’s singing club and parents’ café
- assistance in kindergarden groups or protestant schools
- starting your own group, based on your talents and experience
Our expectations:
- aged between 18 and 28 years
- successful school graduation
- experience as a (volunteer) church worker or a member of the youth league
- fluently English speaking and having an idea of the German (or related) language
- openness for a different environment and flexibility concerning the different tasks
- ability to work independently
Our offers:
- weekly working schedule of 38 hours
- monthly pocket money and a monthly ticket for public transport will be provided
- seminar participation, together with other international volunteers
- a language class in Berlin
- private room with a host family of the parish or equivalent situation
- independent mentor for the volunteer in case of uncertainties or crisis
